PAST PROJECTS
OVER WATER
Landsdown Club, 2004
The Landsdown Club were renovating their elegant 1930’s art deco swimming pool and gym,
where gentlemen members once shimmied up ropes as part of their regular workout. The club
wanted to mark its re-opening with a performance and a friend suggested I might create something.
The entire piece took place (and had to be rehearsed) over water. Together with rope artist David Linton we devised a piece on ropes over the pool, to a 1930’s song
by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. David, who is also a rock climber, thankfully concocted a way for us to come
down and rest periodically without getting wet each time. Needless to say, the piece ended in an almighty splash.
